WATER TREATMENT.
WATER TREATMENT AND DISINFECTION OF COOLING CIRCUITS.

Doya Biológica
is a company specialised in water treatment and disinfection of water
cooling circuits, for example cooling towers, evaporative condensers,
humidifying trays for air-conditioning units, scrubbers, closed cooler
circuits...etc. We did not carry out treatment of swimming pool water,
waste water and other such activities.
For treatment, we use the product CALFA BAS. This is a product
developed in Japan, which consists of an inorganic solid (silver sodium
borosilicate) that dissolves slowly in water, and which performs the
following functions:
-
On the maintenance
level: it prevents and/or eliminates encrusted calcium, silica and
magnesium, as well as oxide, algae and slime, so there is no need
for halts in production to perform the annoying task of disassembling
them plate by plate or circulating chemicals through the system.
-
At a hygiene level,
it prevents the presence of fungi and bacteria in the water, including
the much talked about Legionella.
The advantages of this product with respect to classical chemical
products in cyclinders are:
-
It does
not need impulse dosing pumps to be installed, the maintenance
thereof and the constant replacement of cyclinders and the disruption
that this involves.
This is a product that dissolves slowly in water, with a useful
life of approximately 6 months. The product is placed in the
water reservoire of the facility, beside the aspiration filters
of the pumps, as this is the area where there is most water
movement, which favours dispersion of the product throughout
the circuit. It does not need external storage.
-
It is
a product that performs several functions: biocide,
anti-caking and anti-corrosive.
-
It is
not toxic or corrosive. The pH of the product in water
is pH 8 and the oral LD50 is greater than 2000 mg/kg.
Other characteristics
are:
-
It does not foam.
-
It does not need
to be treated as a toxic and hazardous waste, which means it readily
adapts to environmental guidelines (ISO 14001). According to waste
characterisation studies carried out, the plastic cartridge that
contains it would be discarded in the yellow container for plastic
and the waste product can be assimilated in the urban environment.

CALFA "BAS"
is a product developed in Japan, which consists of a solid organic compound
(silver sodium borosilicate), which is supplied in porous bags inside
polypropylene cartridges. The product is easily put in place: inside
the reservoir alongside the aspiration. This is a maintenance product
that carries out the following functions:
-
Anti-caking effect:
The sodium ions carry out an ion-exchange with calcium, silica or
magnesium, replacing the caked carbonate, silicate and sulphate
forms with forms less prone to caking.
-
Anti-corrosive
effect: The silicates stabilise the pH at round 8, thus preventing
corrosive processes.
-
Biocide effect:
The silver ions eliminate algae and slime (brown coloured) from
the exchangers.
-
Anti-legionella
effect: This is a product that has been shown to be effective against
Legionella.
RANGE OF ACTION: Up
to 5.500 microsiemens and up to 150º according to dose.
TEMPERATURE RANGE:
-30º C (with ethylene glycol) up to temperatures of + 600 Degrees
Centigrade.
USEFUL LIFETIME IN
WATER: Approximately 6 months (200 days).
DOSE: From 0.1-0.25%
weight/volume according to the quality of inlet water. Minimum 1 pack
even though the tower does not exceed a volume of 1m3. Nevertheless,
the circulating flow should also be taken into account, with the dose
varying between 40-60 ppm x flow in m3.
The largest value from either calculation is the one that should be
used.
COMPATIBILITY: with
any product, including chloride.
